The Story
Duran Moodley is a South African actor and storyteller whose love for performance began long before any stage lights found him. Inspired by the emotion and spectacle of Bollywood cinema — and by Shah Rukh Khan in particular — he grew up believing that a single story, told with conviction, could move an entire room.
That belief carried him from school productions to serious stage work, where his performance in Lord of the Flies earned him a Best Actor award. Acting became more than ambition; it became discipline, craft and purpose.
He founded DM Studios to build the kind of platform he wished had existed when he was starting out: a home for African stories, and a genuine pathway for actors, writers and creatives who have the talent but not the access.
Representing South Africa
From Durban to New York
Duran was selected to represent South Africa at the International Modeling & Talent Association (IMTA) convention in New York — one of the most competitive talent showcases in the world, attended by agents, managers and casting directors from across the globe.
Standing on that stage carrying the South African flag was a turning point. He competed against international talent, earned recognition from industry professionals, and returned home with a scholarship offer from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA).
